How Dangerous is Lightning? A Study of Air Force Damage Reports
Lt. Colonel Ferd J. Curtis studied 66 Air force in-flight lightning strike incidents that occurred between 1959 and 1963. He categorized the different damage reports and compiled them into an interesting article titled, How Dangerous is Lightning? Incidents varied in intensity and seriousness and were categorized by location on the plane in addition to severity.
